Update to wood elf
So have looked at this piece again and I am just using it for practice on rendering at the moment and perfecting my brush strokes and adding details, to try and create realistic materials. As this piece has so many different ones.
Here is where it is at the moment. The face needs some huge work especially around the mouth section.

Traveler Update
So, got some feedback on this piece suggesting that the perspective was a bit off... Something i do find tricky. So have worked on that a bit. I think he might be a bit too small now.

The traveller
So i have given the piece a title considering i am working on a few pieces. This is an update to an earlier WIP, overall i am happy with the way it is going. I think i need to rework the city/castle as structurally it doesnt make sense and looks a bit weird. This morning i spent a bit of time cleaning up the photoshop file and adding bits and bobs here and their.

Update to new piece
So, i felt the character was a bit weak, so i decided to have this person on a horse being chased down... by some vicious villains! Also changed the colour palette, whilst i was on the way to work i saw a lovely wintery sunrise and decided to go along with that...

Update on wood elf
So got some feedback over on feedback about my work and the way I am doing it... I was thinking about this piece and felt that it needed a bit more why is this character yelling in the woods and letting his bird go. So I decided the most logical idea was that he is getting hunted so have put in a rough idea of some mounted orcs in the bg.

Thumbs for new piece
So, I had been clearing out some cupboards and found my old games workshop and how much I use to enjoy painting them especially the wood elves so I decided to do some thumbs of one of the main wood elf dudes.
His name is Araloth...

3D LOL creep den
So a bit of an update here, started to texture some bits here and there. It has along way to go and the deadline is soon approaching.
Kinda think it sits with LOL painterly style, not keen on the purple flowers atm.

New den!
So, looking back i wasn't too happy with my design so looked back at some my other ideas and have ended up with this below.
Tree - zbrush
I haven't played in zbrush for awhile - since the last time I used it I have purchased a bamboo which makes using zbrush so much easier. This isn't the best tree in the world, but I am pleased with the outcome of it and I think it could fit in the style of LoL.

LOL - competition at polycount
Hello,
So a competition has started over at Polycount and I have decided to look into the 3d one. Which asks you to create the base, turret and a creep den for the game.
Below are some ideas mainly for the turret but some could be used as the base as well.

Nomad
Its been awhile since I have posted we have had a fair bit going on at work... Making spare time and doing personal work a bit tricky!
I recently purchased a matte painting book that has given me some ideas and some tips on matte painting and decided to give it a go. I think im starting to understand the principles. This is from a number of different images and merging them together to try and make a believable scene.
Hope you like!

Mountains
After seeing some of Isacc's Wild Thing images i got inspiration to make my own.. Here are some different ones, the story behind them is a world with four islands each having a different race; water, horseshoe, fork and top hat. They come together to help one another :)

Camp Fire Update
Haven't had so much time on this, just adding a few details here and there. I am currently creating some simple posters for my brother as he is into beer making and having a party soon and would like some images to go with the beer.
I am pretty happy with the outcome of this piece.

Update to Landscape
After some great feedback on a forum, i decided to revisit this a bit. The main criticisms were the values and the composition, which is something i will be working on in the future with other pieces of work.

Keep on Swimming
So, this week so some frustration... I would normally quit if I was trying to work on a piece that wasnt working, but i decided to carry on and hope for something good at the end of it. As Doreen said in Finding Nemo 'keep on swimming' in this case keep on drawing.
The end result is getting there, will add some bits and bobs to it in places as i am thinking of having a city in the background or some more rolling hills.
But here is the progress from the original to where it is now with a few images in between.

Unreal Tournament Concept Challenge
So over at Polycount they had a competition to create some art that would be used as a bases for some of their levels for the upcoming game. I didn't win anything but really enjoyed the opportunity and to better develop my skills. Especially of using a 3d render as a base to go off.
Here are my 3 images;

A new blog for a new skill
So recently I have been painting in photoshop. I have checked out a few tutorials, brought a few books and feel its time to try and be a bit more creative.
I have a few pieces already under my belt, that i will post up soon, but my initial pictures are some speedpaints... Well speed for me is 45 mins - 1 hour. As i usually go to quickly into trying to bit details in and end up taking forever to do anything.
So here they are... a pond and a waterfall.
These came from some initial sketches I did.
